Gear: Alesis Guitar Link cable
Alesis Guitar Link cable [CLICKY]
For those looking for a cheap, easy recording solution, give this a try?
It's a guitar jack - USB cable, which means you can just plug it into the output of your FX pedal/amp (possibly bass too, depending on if the bass signal is strong enough AFAIK) and straight to your PC. Bingo!

Noticed one today in my local shop, £25ish. Might pick one up to give it a try... Anyone got one/used one?

Re: Gear: Alesis Guitar Link cable
I've got the lightsnake, which is a similar cable.
Sounds crystal clear, as long as you dont have it too loud or it'll start clipping.
The only problem is i cant record my bass and listen to the track i'm playing to and my bass at the same time.
When I've done recordings in the past, I'd just use a cable going from my amp's headphone socket to the line-in on my sound card, and I can play the song aswell and hear the bass at the same time. I'd just record using "WhatUHear" and it worked out ok.
But the USB interface comes up as a different sound card, so i cant record from both my normal soundcard and the lightsnake at the same time.
Theres probably some software that does do it, but I haven't really looked yet.

Straight from your bass/other instrument to the USB port on your PC or Mac.

My mistake didn't pay much attention to smaz's post!
This solution sounds very good...

Re: Gear: Alesis Guitar Link cable
It seems a bit expensive. I may consider just getting an effects station like the one D'man has with something like this in it. If I don't this is a definite buy though.
