I'm supposed to find the chords for these three in order to create my own bassline based on the blues shuffle.

But I'm now sure if I'm playing the right notes, could someone help me with this? Exclamation

just play the 12 blues bassline starting on c,f and g and that should be your notes (i think)

The question seems a bit vague to me... What kind of sound/style are you aiming for?

C7 is C E G Bb
F7 is F A C Eb
G7 is G B D F

I think you can figure out the pattern by yourself. What always sounds good is a blues progression with a blues scale. Since your progression is in C, it goes like this:
C Eb F F# G Bb C.

In tab (in C):
G-------------------------------------8---10---11---12---15---17---
D---------------------------8---10------------------------------------
E-------------8---9---10----------------------------------------------
E---8---11------------------------------------------------------------

Have fun, the blues scale is an awesome little thing Wink

BTW, I don't have a clue what a blues shuffle is, but I'm sure you'll figure something out Wink
Oh, and if you wonder why there's an Eb in the scale and an E in the chord, it's because that minor third gives it the characteristic blues sound Wink

Wait, surely a blues in C consists of Cmajor, Fmajor and G7? If you want to walk over it stay tuned for my walking bass lessons...

It varies. Usually you play the last round all the way with '7'-chords Wink

It doesn't matter on bass, I think, you'll still be using Bb and Eb Razz

hmmm
i think hte beginning of dmans heavy blues is a 12 bar blues bass line

let me see if i can tab it out for u

|------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|------------------------------------------------7-10-7----7-10-7------------------------------9-10-9----7-10-7--------------------------------------- Repeat as needed
|-----7-10-7---7-10-7---7-10-7---7-10-7-8----------8-------------7-10-7----7-10-7---10----------8-------------7-10-7---7-10-7---------------
|---8---------8---------8---------8---------------------------------8----------8----------8-------------------------8----------8----------------------

i think thats it

u can also use this patern instead

|-----------------------------------
|----------2-3-2---------------------
|----7-10--------10-7---------------------
|--8--------------------8-------------

and then use that in the same way its up to u
it depends on the speed of the song and what the vocals are doing
sometimes you might want to mix the two patterns up or whatever

Well the chords are what TLS said, a 7 chord is simply a major scale with a minor 7th.

Yeah, it depends on the feel of the song. While 'my' pattern allows for more solo-orientated stuff and gives that crying effect, this pattern is great for a walk, although I'll fix it xD

G|-------------------------------------
D|----------7-8-7---------------------
A|----7-10--------10-7---------------
E|--8--------------------8-------------

Ok, if you need to know the theory behind it etc, try digging around this site:

http://www.studybass.com/

This mentions a bit about C7: http://www.studybass.com/lessons/bass-chord-patterns/chord-tones-are-primary/

I have sore/cut fingers due to my dog, but I'll have a go at playing a bassline for you as an example.

Firstly, I play the C7 (with an added 6th I believe it is - basically the note before in the mixolydian scale, which is basically what 90% of blues basslines have Smile). It gives you more options having it in there! Then it's the F7, both octaves, and finally the G7 over both octaves.

Then there's two example basslines of how you could play over the 3 chords.

Excuse my playing, but my fingers are extremely sore, and I can't put too much pressure on them or use one of my fingertips, blah blah blah.

If you'd like the tab for the blues lines, let me know!
